 NON-SURGICAL VISION CORRECTION

ORTHOKERATOLOGY  (Ortho-K)

Ortho-K is a non-invasive form of corneal reshaping with contact lenses. It involves wearing specially designed lenses overnight which gently reshape the cornea to improve vision and control myopia progression. These lenses correct near-sightedness (myopia) and astigmatism. The special lenses are removed upon waking and the result is clear vision all day long.

Simply sleep in our custom Ortho-K lenses and wake up to perfect vision!

At the end of the test your doctor will discuss the findings with you and answer any questions you may have.Getting a regular exam is an important part of your preventative health care. Many eye problems have no symptoms early on, and these can be identified with preventative eye care.  You can prevent vision loss and take care of your eyes by coming in for annual eye exams.

It is  recommended that individuals aged 40 years and older get a comprehensive eye examination even though they may seem to have perfect vision.   This is the age when early signs of eye disease and changes in vision may first present itself.

CHILDREN’S EYE EXAM

It is important to get your child’s eyes examined to ensure that any problems can be picked up as soon as possible.  Eighty percent of a child’s learning in school is through vision. So undetected vision problems can significantly affect a child's learning and development.

Children may not notice that there is a problem with their vision so vision problems may go months or years without being detected. These undetected vision problems may lead to amblyopia (lazy eye) which needs to be corrected aggressively in childhood.

Eye care experts recommend that children have their first comprehensive eye exam at age 6 months. Then they should have their eye examined at age 3 and then at age 5 or 6 just before entering the first grade.

CONTACT LENSES EXAM AND FITTING

Contact lenses can provide freedom from glasses for all sorts of occasions.  Whether you need lenses for sports, social occasions, everyday wear, cosmetic or therapeutic reasons there are numerous lenses to choose from.  With new advances in contact lenses, there are now newer lenses and more comfortable materials available than ever before. Even if you have been unsuitable for lenses in the past, there may be a new lens to suit you.  With these new advances, lenses are now available for all prescriptions even if you wear progressives lenses or reading glasses.

A contact lens is a medical device therefore, all contact lenses, even cosmetic ones, require a prescription. Prescriptions for contact lenses and glasses may be similar, but are not interchangeable. A contact lens

eye examination is needed. This exam includes a comprehensive eye exam to check overall health of the eyes, a refraction to measure your prescription and measurements to determine the proper contact lens fit.

At Prestige Eye Care we also offer prosthetic contact lenses. These are used to assist patients who have disfigured eyes. This could be as a result of congenital defects, trauma, chemical burns or infections.  A soft prosthetic contact lens is used to conceal the disfigurement and match the eye color with the normal eye.
